My first sports client...actually, my first client all together. I've been hired as a freelance designer for Prolific Interactive and mostly get sports clients. I met them through the creative director for Scholastic and they loved my work and wanted my style! I found it funny coming from a mainly sports company who wanted my style, which, to me is quite the opposite of sports masculine. But, if they want it, they got it!

Here is what I sent them for concepts this afternoon. I'll explain the final concept that is chosen, but for now, enjoy the mystery.

This one is my favorite as far as visual and conceptual goes, also I invested most of my time working on it and I feel the evolution was great.

the best resume

Found this excellent resume posted by HOW design. Precise, informative, and definitely stands out of the pile. Makes me excited to get out there and show what I am made of so that, when the time comes, I can put out an amazing package to be hired as a Senior designer... right now Junior Designer would be fantastic.

Summer Projects

Over the summer I've done a little work for a friend who is opening a home daycare, Country Kids, soon. I designed a symbol and flyer for her and have been working on a mural in her basement where the children will play. The mural is enlarged heart symbol with the writing "Whats planted in the heart takes root in the soul." (which is what the idea came from for the logo) and children's faces inside the heart. I will be tapping back into what made me love art so much--portraits.

My next project will be the website design for my mother's hairdressing business, Shear Perfection. I plan to work on websites a lot for the rest of the summer for the portfolio, as I am finding more potential employers in that department. It is a very sad thing for me learn, as I do love print very much, but I will work through this! I just love touchable design.
I did this logo for my mother a few years back, but she finally got the cards in print this month! I am happy to find that I still love the design, even after 3 years. The next project, as said will be the website--to advertise her specializing in color.

Blog Template

Right now I'm working on the blog template, so please excuse the appearance. I have learned that this is quite a pain in the you know what. So far what I'll be keeping is the blog entry layout with the yellow drop for the date.

Next on the to do list is still come up with a solid name for this blog so that I can continue to design the logo and header. My overall concept is just design down to the basics by using the CMYK, color blocks/bars, and commonly used fonts (that's an obvious for web design anyway).
Right now the alignment of the titles are all over the place, so I've been having to skim through all of the CSS codes and whatnot to find the root of the problem. Well, this will definitely give me more experience as far as the web design department goes. I will be able to design blog templates no problem after this.

Please, feel free to comment some criticisms on the layout.

Website

Today I've been working on a new look for my website. The one I have up currently is as simple can get. Honestly it was something I wanted to get up within a few hours so that I'd have something to show my work on as I send out job inquiries. Now that I have the time and been dying to create something, I decided to spruce things up a bit. Still simple, but a little more colorful and solid. Each page of work will now have a short description.

My next task will be to design this ugly blog...
